Supporting Your Journey: How Counselling Can Help with Infertility, Pregnancy, and Postnatal Wellbeing

Pregnancy planning.

For some, the journey to parenthood can be a long and winding road. Even when or if you get there, infertility, pregnancy and early parenthood can take a toll on your mental wellbeing. As someone with lived experience of navigating this space, I love to offer a safe, supportive space to process your thoughts and feelings around this topic.

Infertility and Trying to Conceive

The stress of trying to conceive can impact your mental health, relationships, and sense of self. It can feel like everyone around you is having babies, and you are being left behind. Counselling can help you manage grief, anxiety, and uncertainty, as well as navigate what decisions you want to make, while also supporting communication with your partner and building emotional resilience during this challenging time.

Pregnancy and the Perinatal Period

Pregnancy brings joy — but also change, identity shifts, and worry. Counselling provides a space to explore your experience, manage anxiety, and prepare emotionally for parenthood. If you’re anxious about the birth experience or about how another little human will fit into your world, counselling gives you room to explore whatever you’re feeling and tools to cope with the uncertainty.

Postnatal Mental Health

After birth, many women experience unexpected emotions, from baby blues to postnatal depression and anxiety. Counselling can support you in adjusting to motherhood, managing overwhelm, and reconnecting with yourself.

Helpful Tips for Emotional Wellbeing

  • Be kind to yourself — your emotions are valid

  • Talk to someone you trust or a counsellor

  • Build in moments of rest and connection each day

  • Know that you don’t have to go through this alone

If you’re feeling emotionally stretched or simply need a space to breathe and reflect, I’m here to help. You don’t need a diagnosis to seek support. just a willingness to take that first step.
